The Ultimate Transformational Journey – The Only Journey Worth Committing To.

We are born with a unique blueprint. It comes with no manual or guide. Most people live out their lives not knowing, or understanding or even gaining full clarity of their blueprint. This is one of the reasons people find themselves stuck in one way or another. This stuckness lacks movement and we know by observing nature that anything that doesn’t move begins to die.

When we are stuck, whether that be in procrastination, or on the wheels of self - sabotage, lacking meaningful progress, we are vulnerable to anxieties and depressive moods. The way out of this emotional energetic quagmire is by learning how our blueprint functions and what is needed for it to operate effortlessly, efficiently and beautifully.

Not knowing our blueprint is like buying mini minor and taking it on a brutal 4 wheel driving track. It seems like a ludicrous analogy but this is exactly what most people do in their lives. Because of this they cling to what they have known, often way past its used by date.

Not knowing who you are makes you extremely vulnerable to external forces like main stream media, other people’s opinions, and your history or story. Socrates was apparently known for having said that “an unexamined life is not worth living.” My personal take on Socrates words is that a life ruled by external forces is not worth living. A life where we fail to look within we will go without (thank you Neale Donald Walsh).

When we know who we truly are and what we are about all (non clinical) anxieties and depressive moods instantly evaporate. We are no longer emotionally influenced by what is reported by the media, other people’s opinions and most importantly our historical narrative (who we think we are based on what we have been told as kids, teenagers and even as young adults) no longer defines us.

In fact when we accurately know and embrace the blueprint we are born with we can begin to take everything in life so lightly. Instead of monumental situations shaking us up, we utilise life’s guaranteed uncertainties to observe, know and embrace our blueprint even more. Our blueprint is designed to handle anything life throws at us. The other crucial chunk of awareness we need to have is that our blueprint evolves or is continually changing….automatically.

My wife Silvana and I and been married (at the time of this writing, 2022) for 25 years. We have often said that we are no longer married to the person we married back in 1996. That man and woman ceased to exist a long time ago. So we need to keep up with who we are becoming.

The ultimate transformational journey therefor is the journey of self discovery. The answers will not be found ‘out there’. They will be found ‘in here’.
This is great Joe, but how? How do we do this?

Based on my work over the last 16 years, with thousands of people in group workshops and in private consultation, I have distilled this to 5 core focus points in our lives. Master these and you master your life. Embrace these 5 principles in your life and any non clinical anxiety or depression can be significantly reduced or eliminated.

Here they are:
1. Become aware of the single mots powerful force in the human condition: our identity. Our identity is our self concept. Our self concept is how we define ourselves. Most people define themselves by external roles they play. For example some people define themselves by their careers. They hang their entire energetic hat on the results and progress of their career. If or when their career is threatened, ended or forced to evolve or change they are vulnerable to experiencing a life crisis. All life crises are crises of identity. We all journey through four identity phases, and each of these phases has its own definition, its own set of values, its own beliefs. These are four different blueprints which integrate together. It is crucial to be aware of how you define yourself because if it based on something external, if that external role is very threatened it will massively affect your emotional well being.

2. Life Stages. As we expand our awareness around how we define ourselves, we are also on another profound journey. This is journey of ambition to meaning. A journey for our perceived identity and our soul. The ambition to meaning journey is a journey from head to heart. From ego centric identity to a heart centric identity, from a shallow form identity to a deep level of identity. There have been thousands of people I have helped because they have been stuck in the ambition driven world via a job or relationship or some other kind of life circumstance which relies on them producing results. Nothing wrong with this, except of your are no longer feeling aligned to that job or relationship or circumstance it is because you are now in a new life stage. That life stage is in the meaning driven world. This is now where we redefine ourselves from getters to givers. This is where we genuinely care about making a difference in other people’s lives. The final stage is when we integrate ambition into meaning so we can live an energetically sustainable life where the goal of happiness has been replaced by the quest for fulfilment. We can only find that fulfilment through service to others.

3. Values – our emotional compass. This matters immensely because our values hugely influences all our decisions and what we will notice in the world. When we live out of alignment for our values, not following our emotional compass, we will feel emotionally unwell. We will feel like ‘not ourselves’. Our evolving identity, progressive life stage and our values need to align to build an unbreakable level of self trust, so we can handle anything our life throws at us. It takes faith to follow our emotional compass. I can tell you from life experience, the emotional compass is always right!

4. Emotional flexibility. It is SO important to understand that you and I are the fabricators and manufactures of our emotions. Emotions don’t respond to facts, they respond to our perception of the facts. We can change our perceptions. Change perception, change emotion transform your life. This is because in life we only really have one thing – our perception of our experiences. Our perception of experience is completely flavoured and coloured by the quality of emotion. Ever see to opposing extreme emotions at a team sporting event?

5. Perspective. How many times, when we are caught up in some kind of life drama, have you heard someone say ‘hey you need to get things into perspective?’ An emotionally fit human has a clean and healthy perspective. This is because when some one knows who they are (identity), is clear on where they are on the ambition to meaning journey, they know their values, appreciate that they are the creator of all emotion and hence experience, they can rely on their perspective, they can lean into it because it is clean. Putting things into a healthy clean perspective prevents us from getting caught up in everyday dramas and issues. In fact it will better equip us is navigating these issues with great clarity and efficiency.
